SmithCo was recently highlighted in Engineering and Mining Journal for their article "The Future Fleet Forecast." The article focuses on the latest trends in truck-shovel mining, an industry where side dump trailers outpace the competition in terms of cost and efficiency.

"One of the many benefits [...] is that the upfront capital cost of the equipment is a fraction of the cost of large mining trucks, as are the operating costs, particularly fuel consumption, repairs and maintenance. With large fleets of smaller trucks, it’s also easier to build redundancy into the system — if a unit goes down, there’s likely to be another that can quickly take its place."
