SmithCo Mfg. sponsored an education session at ConExpo 2026 in Las Vegas this past March. The session was entitled “Smart Tech in Site Prep: Accelerate Timelines & Drive Profitability.”
You can watch the entire session below. It gives a fantastic history lesson of site preparation equipment, as well as the advantages of switching from scrapers and haul trucks to using tractors and side dump trailers.
BUT, you will really want to jump to the 27-minute mark of the presentation, where Grayson Edwards shares his actual cost figures regarding production. You will see that using The Brute CP30 in tandem saves 22% over similar jobs using scrapers! Equipment costs, fuel costs, maintenance costs and training time are all much lower with the new way to “move a whole lotta dirt.”

Stephen has many certifications, including Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management, IDOT P.C. Plant Technician, IDOT Work Zone Traffic Control and IDOT Aggregate Technician.
