The air line filter should be removed for cleaning and inspection during your scheduled periodic maintenance. The air filters will be located inside of the driver side frame rail, behind the dolly leg.
What you will need
- Flathead Screwdriver
- New Filter (if replacing)
STEP 1: Unhook Gladhands
Make sure the gladhands are unhooked. You do not want to have any air pressure in the lines.
STEP 2: Remove Clip
Remove the filter by pressing the screwdriver into the center of the pin. Push up and begin to slowly slide the pin out. Continue to hold pressure up, so the spring does not fly out.
STEP 3: Remove Housing Components
Remove:
- Cap
- Spring
- Metal plate
- Filter
- Spring
- O ring
STEP 4: Clean and Inspect
Clean the air filter by blowing the debris off the filter or replace it entirely. Ensure it is clean and dry before placing back into the housing.
STEP 5: Return to Housing
Put the filter assembly back into the housing, reverse order that the pieces came out. Start by placing the filter into the spring it came out of and placing that assembly into the housing.
STEP 6: Secure in place
Put the clip back in place to secure the entire assembly.
